Giddy Up!

Comprising 23 acres of farmland along Sand Creek in Stapleton, the Urban Farm is many a young Denverite's first exposure to cultivation, animal husbandry and riding horses. What began fifteen years ago as a horsemanship-education program has become a full-service agricultural/environmental education facility that serves thousands of urban youths. Although grant money funds most of the farm's programs, feeding its 59 horses, four donkeys, 28 chickens, fourteen sheep and 33 goats requires more creative financing — like tonight's second annual Art for the Animals Wine Reception and Art Lottery, taking place at the RE/MAX of Cherry Creek offices at 3773 Cherry Creek Drive North, #801. General-admission tickets are $50 per person; better yet, the $150 Art Lottery ticket buys admission for two and one piece of wearable, hangable or displayable art provided by Artists With a Heart.
